The drive to Cornwall is getting better and better all the time. Driving from Exeter, the best route is via the A30 for about 80 miles until you reach the junction with the A39 signposted towards Truro. Follow the A39 until you reach the junction with the A390 Tregolls Road, turn right into Truro. Follow the A390 over 2 roundabouts, past a Tescos on your left and up a hill on a dual carriageway called Morlaix Avenue. At the double mini roundabout at the top, turn left onto Arch Hill towards Falmouth. After just over 1 mile, there is a very sharp left hand turning signposted towards Coombe. Take this left hand turning and follow the road straight over at the Kea School junction. Continue with the school on your left and go along the road towards Coombe passing through the hamlet of Porth Kea. After approx. 1.8 miles you will come across a right hand turn sign posted ‘Coombe ½’ mile, take this right turn. Go over 2 cattle grids heading down the lane towards the river. After going over the second cattle grid you will see the red telephone and post boxes and a row of garages on your right. On the left hand side is a green/blue shed with a corrugated roof called The Woodshed – this is where our off road parking is located. As this car park is shared with up to 5 other cars, please ensure your car is pulled right into the car park and where possible close up to The Woodshed – this gives room for everyone to park their cars and gives the widest possible space between cars. You may find it more convenient to back into The Woodshed Car park – to access, go down to the creek foreshore and turn around to come back up the lane to the row of garages now on your left. Pull forward to the row of garages and back into The Woodshed car park. Our comfort and toilet facilities are also located at this car park. To get to The Reading Room, walk down to the waters edge and The Reading Room is the cream building with black roof located next to Riverside Cottage. Coombe is a rural location with narrow Cornish country lanes, wildlife habitats and the River Fal river which is tidal. Where we can, we keep the area as natural as possible to protect its value for wildlife and for the enjoyment of our guests.
