Our innovative loose leaf Great British Tea Pyramids each contain our unique loose leaf teas in biodegradable silken tea pouches. All the perks of enjoying loose leaves without the need for a teapot or tea strainer! The pouches are made from cornstarch and are 100% biodegradable and plastic-free.

Ingredients

A special blend of hand-plucked Cornish tea with the finest Assam

Brewing instructions

Use filtered or bottled water just off the boil, and brew for 3-4 minutes. Whole leaves take a little longer to brew, but the short wait is well worth it.
Great British tea can be served with or without milk and sweetened with honey or sugar. Our Great British Pyramids can also be reinfused!

Origins

Tregothnan was invited to 10 Downing Street in 2012 to launch an exciting tea product in connection with the government’s GREAT initiative which invites the world to celebrate the very best of British produce.

GREAT initiative

This bespoke GREAT British Tea caddy, requested by Downing Street from Tregothnan celebrates that tea is enjoyed by more people than any other drink. Tea just about defines what makes us British – hardly a day goes by without a survey or poll confirming tea is the nations favourite drink.
Tregothnan was invited to 10 Downing Street to help with the GREAT export initiative, taking the best of Britain to the World. Churchill wanted tea to be grown in the UK in the 1940’s. Now, 70 years later, the first home-grown tea is being delivered to participating Embassies.

I was introduced to Tregothnan by Countryfile. What a fabulous idea, drinking English tea grown in England. My first cup of English Breakfast was everything I was hoping for, smooth, tasty and refreshing. My family have Tregothnan tea in their Christmas stockings - spreading the joy. What a find.

Bought as a gift

I can't comment on the taste of the tea itself, as i bought this for a Christmas gift for my son and daughter in law who really appreciate good teas.
I made this purchase following watching a programme on TV which featured the tea growers.

About us

Rare plants have been nurtured by the same family at Tregothnan since 1334. The first tea was grown in the UK in 1999 to put the ‘English into English Tea’ and the most British tea in history was first sold in 2005.

Now, over 26 miles of tea bushes thrive in the unique microclimate, seven miles inland and with a deep-sea creek bringing regular fog. Manuka bushes have also thrived here since the 1880’s, the first grown outside of New Zealand and producing the most delicious honey.
