Pick your own Kea Plums for just £12 per bag!

Start your journey at The International Tea Centre and take a detour from your coastal walk to wander through the ancient Kea Plum™ orchards. Thought to be extinct, the historic fruit may be related to a plum traded from Portugal during the 17th Century and flourished at Coombe in Tregothnan’s subtropical microclimate.

Harvesting begins from 1st August, weather and fruit permitting. Check back here for regular updates on weather and harvest conditions.

Terms and Conditions

By attending the Pick Your Own Kea Plums™ event at Tregothnan, you agree to the following terms and conditions:

1. Health & Safety

  • Please note that the orchards contain uneven ground, brambles, and dense natural foliage. Sturdy footwear, gloves, and long sleeves are strongly recommended for your comfort and safety.
  • Ticks may be present in grassy or wooded areas. Please check yourself (and children or pets) after your visit, and take appropriate precautions. If bitten, seek medical advice if symptoms occur.
  • All fruit is picked at your own risk. Tregothnan is not liable for any slips, trips, scratches, bites, or other injuries sustained during your visit.
  • Do not pick or consume plums that have already fallen to the ground.
  • A ripe plum will be slightly soft to the touch, with a deep red-purple colour, and will come away from the branch easily when gently pulled.

2. Entry & Attendance

  • Please sign in and out at The Reading Room
  • During busy periods, entry to the orchards may be restricted for health and safety reasons.
  • Entry is first come, first serve and subject to fruit availability.

3. Dogs & Children

  • Dogs are welcome but must be kept on leads at all times.
  • Children must be closely supervised at all times.

4. Weather & Cancellations

  • Tregothnan reserves the right to cancel or close the orchards at any time, especially in cases of bad weather or safety concerns.
  • Any cancellations will be announced on the Tregothnan website as early as possible.

5. Opening Hours & Tickets

  • Opening hours: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Tuesday to Saturday, throughout August only.
  • Tickets are non-refundable.

6. Liability

  • Tregothnan does not accept responsibility for any injury, damage, or loss sustained during your visit.
  • Visitors are responsible for their own safety and should exercise care throughout the orchards.

Are the orchards accessible?

The orchards are accessed via uneven terrain, making footpaths unsuitable for wheelchairs. Please talk to us if you have specific access needs and would like to attend

Is there parking?

Roadside parking is available in the village. Space is limited, therefore we politely remind visitors to respect the privacy of residents and leave plenty of space for emergency vehicles.
