Tregothnan’s tea bushes (Camellia sinensis) are often surrounded by Manuka plantations, in part to protect the tea from the prevailing wind and to provide a feast for bees in the unique deep valley estuarine microclimate. The Manuka bushes also thrive in the historic walled kitchen garden.
Please email tea@tregothnan.co.uk for a special rate if you order 6 or more plants. Free delivery is not available with manuka plants. Next working day delivery. UK shipping only.
Tregothnan’s baby Manuka plant is 1-2 years old and comes complete with care notes. With the correct conditions Manuka will grow into a tall, thick hedgerow style shrub, which will be well received by the bees in your garden. Shelter from cold winds is beneficial.
When does Manuka Flower?
Manuka Bushes flowers for several weeks around the longest day. This variety flowers with small white flowers which have a superb fragrance and flavour. These plants were propagated from the original introductions made by Tregothnan to the World in 1880.
Manuka Honey
Tregothnan’s Manuka honey is not only extremely rare, but has a beautiful, light and floral fragrance and gleaming, golden colour. The UMF rating is trademarked by distributors in New Zealand, however the density of Tregothnan’s honey indicates the high grade of Manuka within. Manuka honey is harvested from the hives by carefully extracting the multi-floral honey from the top layer, as the Manuka Honey is heavier and denser and sinks to the bottom, therefore separating itself from the multi-floral.
