Our Decaf Breakfast Tea is a bold breakfast brew without the caffeine. This decaffeinated English breakfast tea does not contain Tregothnan leaves as we do not process our leaves for decaffeination.

The Tea Grown in Cornwall

Cornish Tea was first created as a new category when Tregothnan succeeded in growing the first tea in Cornwall in 1999. Tregothnan research and development continued the pioneering success with Camellias (the tea genus) first being grown in the UK here two centuries earlier. Long before Tregothnan filled its microclimate to become the largest tea plantation in Europe, we were dubbed the Cornish tea. The original 20th century research indicated that Tregothnan could produce the first Cornish tea and by definition, the first English tea and of course most British tea in history. A debate immediately ensued among our Cornish tea drinkers who claimed Tregothnan as the home of Cornish tea while the wider world of English tea drinkers also claimed Tregothnan as theirs! Internationally, English tea is famed and respected as a blend but until Tregothnan had grown tea here, no such thing as real English tea grown in England has existed. It was always clear to the Tregothnan team that we are a British brand proudly headquartered in Cornwall, owned by one family since 1334.

Brewing instructions

To brew our Decaf Breakfast Tea, use filtered or bottled water just off the boil. Brew for 2 to 4 minutes depending on how strong you like your tea – we recommend 3 minutes of steeping time before tasting.

If you prefer a Tregothnan tea without the caffeine, try one of our herbal infusions like our calming Chamomile which is naturally caffeine-free and actually aids relaxation!

Ingredients

The rich, malty leaves are a blend from Assam in India which have been processed to remove the caffeine leaving a full flavour.

Real English Tea

I have tasted tea from all around the tea growing countries but this is the best. A really pleasant fresh taste and pleasing to the palate.

Plenty of flavour

Large leaves, plenty of flavour with room for the tea to brew. All without the caffeine. Love these bags.

About us

Rare plants have been nurtured by the same family at Tregothnan since 1334. The first tea was grown in the UK in 1999 to put the ‘English into English Tea’ and the most British tea in history was first sold in 2005.

Now, over 26 miles of tea bushes thrive in the unique microclimate, seven miles inland and with a deep-sea creek bringing regular fog. Manuka bushes have also thrived here since the 1880’s, the first grown outside of New Zealand and producing the most delicious honey.
