TEAGROWJJ

This 1-2-1 bespoke, guest-led masterclass is tailored entirely around what you want to learn. Whether you are curious about growing a single tea plant, establishing a small plantation, understanding processing techniques, or exploring flavour development, your time is shaped around your interests, skill level, and personal goals.

Hosted by Jonathon Jones OBE, the head gardener behind The Most British Tea In History, this private session goes far beyond a standard guide. Before your visit, your interests are discussed and the experience is designed around them - from hands-on horticulture and plant selection to microclimate analysis, harvesting, and tea processing.

Set within the unique microclimate of Tregothnan, you’ll gain rare insight into the estate’s botanical history and the story behind the UK’s pioneering tea gardens, while receiving practical, tailored guidance you can apply directly to your own growing ambitions.

No two sessions are alike, because no two guests want to learn the same thing.

Lunch and refreshments included.

About us

Rare plants have been nurtured by the same family at Tregothnan since 1334. The first tea was grown in the UK in 1999 to put the ‘English into English Tea’ and the most British tea in history was first sold in 2005.

Now, over 26 miles of tea bushes thrive in the unique microclimate, seven miles inland and with a deep-sea creek bringing regular fog. Manuka bushes have also thrived here since the 1880’s, the first grown outside of New Zealand and producing the most delicious honey.
