Supplying Tea For G7
We are delighted to be the official tea for the G7 summit this weekend at Carbis Bay. With a big emphasis on the environment, this major summit closely aligns with our passions for land stewardship and enhancing the natural environment for generations to come.
A good example of this is the planting of hundreds of thousands of tea bushes since 1999. Camellia sinensis (the tea bush) takes 6 years to reach maturity before harvesting. These tea bushes sequester (absorb and lock in) far more carbon than almost any other crop and can live for many centuries in microclimates like Tregothnan.
Jonathon Jones OBE, Tregothnan’s MD of Trading met again with Prime Minister Boris Johnson last night to discuss the benefits of tea. Tregothnan has also made tea this week for each of the G7 leaders rooms and all the summit menus. Specially made Japanese style teas, first created for the Japanese Prime Minister Suga, will be shared with Tregothnan subscribers soon. President and First Lady Biden are also indulging in the most British tea in history.
Working proudly with the Cabinet Office, we are able to share these bespoke leaders tins created to mark this special occasion for Cornwall. These two leaders caddies each contain 50g of loose tea.
Earlier this week, our Commercial Director Greg Springer attended the Cornwall’s schools Eco Conference, discussing sustainability and the benefits of tea for the environment with secondary school children from across the county.
Trading and Marketing Assistant Darcie Dawe was also invited to be a judge at Penrice Academy as teams competed to create and present sustainable business ideas and inventions. Darcie was impressed by the creativity and environmental awareness shown by these fantastic young people.
Also requested as part of the G7 this week is the new GREAT campaign tea, designed for 10 Downing Street. Be one of the first to try the new 25 Tea Bag Boxes.
