Tregothnan – the home of British tea – has been selected by CommonwealthFirst to become one of their handpicked SME Export Champions in 2018. This year’s champions cover a wide range of business sectors including British export tea, representing the most diverse geography to date with companies from all corners of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and the Isle of Man.
Lord Marland, Chairman of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council said “We have had fantastic applications from across the UK demonstrating the increasing interest from British businesses in accessing the established and fast growing Commonwealth markets. We look forward to working with these exciting companies – together they showcase the best of what the UK has to offer of the world.”
Tregothnan is the home of British Tea and has seen good export growth with Tregothnan tea sold to most Commonwealth countries – Singapore as well as China, Taiwan, America and many more. Tregothnan has created strong partnerships with our fellow Commonwealth nations and created bespoke Commonwealth tea blends made with ingredients from constituent countries.
CommonwealthFirst is an initiative by the Commonwealth Enterprise & Investment Council, the business arm of the Commonwealth, to encourage SMEs to trade and invest pilot in Commonwealth markets. Tregothnan has been a champion of British export for a number of years, having worked with the government’s GREAT campaign celebrating the best of British producers exporting across the world. In 2012 Tregothnan created the GREAT British tea specifically for the campaign and to be served at Number 10 Downing Street.
Tregothnan will benefit from high-level networking events and introductions, as well as access to training, mentoring and tailored trade missions – with the Commonwealth Games in Australia and the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in London taking place in London.
Tregothnan receives requests for truly English tea from all corners of the globe. There is a healthy appetite for this unique tea with the most rapid growth in Australia and the USA. One day, wherever you are in the commonwealth, you will never be far from a truly British cup of tea.
