Our wood goes through a labour intensive process to make the lumps of charcoal. After being carbonised by carefully heating it up in sealed retorts, the wood’s natural moisture is burnt off and the perfect charcoal is made.
This large bag of British Charcoal is pure English charcoal from the Mereworth Woodlands in Kent. Reducing the use of imported charcoal, it helps to preserve endangered rainforests, as well as reducing transportation miles.

Charcoal made the traditional way tends to burn with a higher heat. An intense, even cooking temperature is reached quickly in 15 minutes. Economical to use, you only need a small amount of charcoal to produce sufficient heat. Also, our home-grown charcoal is lighter by volume compared to the denser, imported briquettes.
