This is a special experience for anyone, not just garden lovers. Our guests are always spellbound by the magnitude and diversity of the visit as well as the passion of one family for this incredible living collection.
Get lost in the largest tea gardens in Europe, the sheer scale of the landscape is breath-taking. Guests are always intrigued with the living estate and how the landscape has been managed for 700 years. Your guide will be happy to focus on the areas you find most interesting and will also follow up with a specialist from the team if you have any specific questions. You set the pace, we will explore as much as you wish, then allow half an hour if you have booked in a Tregothnan Cream Tea! The west gardens at Tregothnan include the hidden valley jungle garden, orchards and tea gardens. Enjoy glorious views over the 18 metre deep Fal River at the centre of the Humphry Repton designed landscape.
Tregothnan House is home to the family and is not open to visitors. The gardens to the east of the house are closed until further notice, a future charity open date may be announced when Covid-19 restrictions are eased. Please note, there are no river views from the east gardens.
The west gardens and orchards are accessed via Coombe, TR3 6AR. The Reading Room in Coombe has a selection of fabulous estate produce for sale. There is a 30-minute drive to the woodyard shop if you wish to visit afterwards, TR2 4AJ
Private tours can be held at either 10am or 2pm Monday – Friday. Well behaved dogs on fixed leads are welcome. Price is per person.
You could also treat yourself to lunch, local sparkling wine and a bouquet of flowers. Toilet facilities are available to guests on arrival.
