Tregothnans Tea Stand at the the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2017

Botanical innovation at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2017

It’s a tale of two halves at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2017 Tregothnan stand this week. A story of city and country – connected by botanical history and a love for garden innovation.

This year our stand is a collaboration with Wardian London – a riverside development offering a unique botanical living experience, just moments from London’s Canary Wharf and influenced by the explorer and botanist, Nathaniel Bagshaw Ward. Tregothnan and Wardian share this connection to the great botanist who invented the Wardian Case in 1829.

We have had some very special visitors throughout the week, including HRH Prince Philip, who was presented with a gift of tea from a bush that he himself planted on a visit to the Estate in 2014. Visitors to the stand have been learning how this ingenious travelling mini-greenhouse changed the horticultural world, bringing botanical paradise to Cornwall, the UK and beyond. The world’s only surviving Wardian Case was discovered at Tregothnan in a locked shed in 1999.
