£50,000 donated to charity from the UK’s largest garden open weekend
Our sights were set on a new world record for the open garden weekend on 21st and 22nd April this year. In 2017 we set the bar high by raising £50,000 for St. Petroc’s Society for homeless people in Cornwall. This year we equalled our own record and donated another £50,000 to the Merlin MS Centre of the proceeds of the UK’s Largest Garden Open Weekend.
With the spectacular support from the public in coming to visit the gardens and the success of the refreshments available throughout the weekend, we are delighted to be able to donate £50,000 to The Merlin MS Centre, equallling last year’s record-breaking donation – something we didn’t think would be achievable again.
We celebrated yesterday lunchtime by hosting a BBQ for all the volunteers who made this wonderful weekend possible. Following the feast, which was well received by all those who attended, the cheque was presented by The Hon Evelyn Boscawen to the team from the Merlin MS Centre.
Preparation has already begun for our next Charity Garden Open Weekend and dates have been agreed for the 13th and 14th of April 2019, in support of isightcornwall who help support those living with visual impairments in Cornwall.
