Father Christmas supports British grown tea

The winter of 2016 has been unprecedentedly warm, allowing Tregothnan to harvest tea well into December, outstripping the season in Darjeeling which has been much colder this winter. The estate was bathed in a perfect combination of warmth and wet, forcing the heating in the office to be shut off on the wrong side of November, and our festive gardening team making a show of a famous pair of helping hands.

The extraordinary weather pays homage to our unique, sheltered micro-climate, with rainfall and average temperatures consistent with those in Darjeeling, the Champagne of tea.
