Summer Festivals
25th June 2012
It's Festival Time!

Tregothnan will be supplying tea for the wonderful 'Ways with Words' Festival at Dartington Hall, Devon, 6 - 16 July. This vibrant and joyful 10-day event offers a chance for those who read books to meet those who write them. The setting is fabulous, the atmosphere is invigorating. People come together in spectacular surroundings to share the pleasure and power of language and ideas.
Another date for the diary is the gloriously creative Port Eliot Festival at St Germans, Cornwall, 19 - 22 July. Now in its ninth year, the festival is an annual celebration of words, music, imagination, laughter, exploration, and – above all – fun. You bring the sun shine and we'll bring own home-grown Cornish teas (plus ice-creams!) served from our vintage-inspired tram.
Also, if you're attending The Mad Hatter's Tea Party at the Oxford Symposium on Food and Cookery on 6 July, we hope you'll enjoy our Earl Grey, Afternoon, and Green Tea poured from gigantic teapots and served alongside rainbow sandwiches and scrumptious cakes.
A Ferry for Smugglers
25th June 2012

There is now a regular ferry that connects Smugglers & The Tea Bar at Tolverne with Trelissick Gardens on the other side of the river. It also lands at a number of other locations around the upper Fal River including Halwyn, Tolverne, visiting yacht pontoons, moorings and anchorages and Round Wood Quay.
It operates 7 days a week in June, July, August and September from 1015 - 1650 and there's an evening service on Friday and Saturday nights in July & August.
Enterprise Boats passengers can use this service for free. The timetable is designed to connect with north and south bound Enterprise Boats at Trelissick as they do not always have time to stop at Smugglers.
Outside of the timetabled service, the Smugglers Ferry can be used as a water taxi and for special boat trips around the river.
HM Queen Elizabeth II’s Letter
22nd June 2012
Congratulations to the Arctic Jubilee Expedition, who received this wonderful letter from HM Queen Elizabeth II in response to their loyal greeting sent from Mount Barbeau on the Queen Elizabeth Islands!

The explorers enjoyed Tregothnan cream teas at the world's most remote Jubilee Tea Party at the summit of the highest peak in the Arctic Cordillera, just 560 miles from the North Pole.
Oli Milroy, one of the team, said: "The cream tea was amazing. It was such a lift to have a taste of home whilst out on the ice. Tregothnan's Kea plum jam also became a great condiment for our porridge! Delicious."

Tregothnan to offer £50 free fuel
22nd June 2012

PLEASE NOTE: This offer has now finished.
With the fuel duty set to rise again, one ancient but innovative country estate has decided to help drivers by giving away £50 of fuel towards the drive to Cornwall.
New bookings will automatically receive £50 per week to get them to Cornwall. Many people are deciding where to escape this summer as a couple or a family and £50 worth of fuel makes a difference.
Lucy Simpson, manager of Tregothnan’s Wild Escapes holiday cottages, said: “A luxury cottage on the Tregothnan estate already offers remarkable value, but we know some guests are deterred by the cost of fuel. This £50 free fuel offer will help. We compete in a world market and our cottages are some of the finest - to an international level.”
The Wild Escapes portfolio currently boasts nine cottages, ranging from creekside hideaways nestled amongst the beautiful Kea plum orchards, to unique cottages hidden on remote tracts of the Lizard peninsula with unrivalled panoramic views.
The offer is only available on www.tregothnan.co.uk, or by calling 01872 520000, with limited availability.
Tregothnan is well known for producing English tea, Manuka honey, Kea plum jam, seasonal flowers and sustainable charcoal, but does not yet make petrol.
