Tregothnan unveiled its fresh tea leaves to celebrate The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and gave them as gifts to The Royal Family.
Fresh Tregothnan Tea is the hand-plucked two leaves and a bud without any processing or oxidation. The lightest and freshest possible tea, it is even more tantalising than the emperor’s silver needle tea.
Due to its rareness, it is only available in tiny quantities exclusively at a few places in the UK for the next few weeks, including Fortnum and Mason, The Savoy, and The Scarlet Hotel in Cornwall.
Jonathon Jones, Commercial and Garden Director at Tregothnan, said: “Here is the UK’s first and only single estate tea leaf available fresh for the first time in history. This has taken fifteen years of development and tastes exquisite. Only last month it looked as the though the new leaves would not be ready.”
Meeche Hudd, General Manager at the Scarlet Hotel, said: “We are honoured to serve the single estate fresh tea leaves to our customers, many of them tea connoisseurs. Tregothnan are renowned for botanical firsts, and with only 20 miles between us, we are delighted to be part of this pioneering piece of tea history.”
